This weekend the entire female portion of my family was in San Diego visiting. There were parts of their visit that could have been considered relaxing, but much of the weekend was spent on the go-go-go. All of Saturday was spent at the San Diego Zoo. Less than all of Saturday would have been spent at the zoo had it not been for Grandma (who can tap into a secret wellspring of energy at the mere hint of cute and fuzzy animals). Erin, Nancy, Kate and I were quite tuckered out by the time we left the zoo at 7pm, only 8 hours after our arrival, but Grandma would have been happy to keep going.
Grandma Lorraine enjoying the view from the aerial tram at the San Diego Zoo.
Other activities included eating mexican food, getting wet/sandy/salty in the Pacific, shopping at the food coop, enjoying food and wine at a local bistro, drinking wine, body surfing and losing bikini tops in Ocean Beach, getting goosebumps in the sun, having a dinner party at the world's tiniest house (mine), knitting at the beach and in the world's teeniest house, and of course hours of conversation. We definitely saved the world (in an intellectual and theoretical sense) and solved all the family's problems in one weekend.

Nancy working on a pair of socks. Awesome yarn by the way...
