Half Marathon in Wine Country

I didn't actually take any pictures during the 1/2 marathon because it would have been a pain to carry my camera for 13.1 miles. After the long run some friends and I went to an ostrich and emu farm near Solvang, CA. It didn't seem like this farm was killing the ostriches for meat (made me happy), but you could buy an ostrich or an emu egg. These eggs, as you might imagine, are quite large. The ostrich egg's volume is equivalent to 2 dozen chicken eggs! Being that I'm a vegan, I wouldn't have made good use of one. Instead I paid a few $$ to feed the ostriches and emus. They were really going crazy for these little green pellets that looked like rabbit food. I wonder what they eat in the real world (nature). Hopefully something a little more interesting. When I find a picture of the 1/2 marathon, I'll post it here!
After the half marathon, it was important to relax in a pool with a Keystone Light!

  1. I am afraid that the ostrich eats a pretty lame diet... scrubs, brush and little stones to aid in digestion... sounds like my diet on a bad day... minus the stones.

  2. great pictures, how come I haven't seen all these before? Wish I could have gone! Relaxing in the pool and feeding an ostrich are activities I could participate in at least :)
